Study examines Latino engagement in mental health treatment

Despite an ongoing need for behavioral health services, treatment engagement remains particularly low among the Latino population with serious mental illness (SMI), pointing to the need for a better understanding of what helps individuals connect with and remain in care, according to researchers of a recent study published in Frontiers in Psychology, “Confianza , Culture, and Care: Barriers to and Facilitators of Mental Health Treatment Engagement Among Latinos with Serious Mental Illness,” published August 20. The study researchers sought to address that gap.
