APA CEO Evans to retire in 2028

Arthur C. Evans Jr., Ph.D. , CEO of the American Psychological Association (APA) and APA Services, Inc., will retire Jan. 3, 2028, after more than a decade leading the organization, according to an APA news release. Evans, who became CEO in March 2017, will remain in his role during the transition as a search committee conducts a national search for his successor. During his tenure, APA's membership and affiliate base grew from approximately 114,000 to more than 190,000, and the association expanded its advocacy and public policy efforts. Evans also led the creation of APA's Center for Behavioral Science and AI and the efforts to strengthen support for psychological research, telehealth coverage and reimbursement for psychological services.
