Optimizing the treatment of facial angiofibromas in tuberous sclerosis: A case report on 577 nm yellow laser therapy
Tuberous sclerosis complex is a rare neurocutaneous disorder characterized by multisystem involvement, including the development of facial angiofibromas. These lesions often lead to significant cosmetic and psychological distress. Here, we report the case of a 22-year-old female with Fitzpatrick type V skin who presented with multiple angiofibromas refractory to topical Rapamycin therapy. The patient underwent a sequential treatment with a pen handpiece followed by scanner-based 577-nm yellow laser therapy, resulting in satisfactory cosmetic outcomes. This case highlights the potential efficacy and tolerability of 577-nm laser treatment as a minimally invasive alternative for managing facial angiofibromas in darker skin types.
