Strategic development of IT business on no-code platforms: conceptualisation of the notion and transformation of the corporate IT function

The article offers a conceptualisation of the strategic development of IT business on no-code platforms and describes the accompanying transformation of the corporate IT function. By contrasting three research approaches to the notion of IT business – the product, functional, and strategic-managerial ones – the author formulates a working definition that links the development of the internal digital contour with the reduction of the distance between a managerial need and its digital implementation. A model of role redistribution between the centralised IT function and business units involving citizen developers is presented: a shift from a monopoly on assembling applications to the shared ownership of digital products, while data architecture, security, integration, and release management remain with the IT service. The limitations of the approach – shadow IT, technical debt, vendor dependence, and a shortage of quality data – and the conditions for keeping them manageable are outlined. The methodological basis is the theoretical analysis and synthesis of Russian and foreign publications and conceptual modelling.
