Different articles, similar arguments: A response to Rosenberg

In this short response to Rosenberg (2026), we focus on three points. First, we note that there is now agreement that intra-party sortition is unlikely to deliver a more socially representative legislature without some other measures such as stratification or quotas. Second, we argue that it is curious to criticise us for not considering the possibility of change in the future in response to the introduction of intra-party sortition, when we did exactly that at some length in our original article. And third, we raise a broader issue about exactly how scholars might measure the overall representativeness of an institution.
