A bibliometric study of publication trends and intellectual structure in artificial intelligence for inclusive education

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a kind of technology that allows computers to understand language, enables machines to learn from data, make decision, solve problems and most importantly simulate human intelligence. The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has remarkably transformed the educational practices, particularly in promoting environment of inclusive learning. This study conducted a bibliometric analysis on Artificial Intelligence for Inclusive Education as an emerging research trend particularly in between the years of 2021–2025. After detailed screening, 1655 document were included for the bibliometric study which are focusing on six specific document types: articles (542), conference papers (454), book chapters (449), reviews (105), books (83) and conference Review (22). In order to evaluate the annual scientific production, document types, impactful authors, Institutional contributions, country productivity, citation impact, and bibliographic coupling networks, applications like Bibliometrix (R package) and VOSviewer were utilized. The findings revealed that a sharp rise in publication trend has taken place especially from the year 2024 which indicates an uprising of interest among the investigators in this field of research around the globe. In terms of types of documents, Journal Articles and Conference papers dominate the field while Subjects like Computer Science and Social Science are considered as the leading subject that highlights the interdisciplinary nature of this research landscape. With regards to the most influential countries, the United States, India and China are identified respectively. Core research themes consist of AI literacy, personalized learning, generative AI, chatbots, and adaptive learning systems. The findings suggest integration of AI technologies in education systems through providing valuable insights for educators, researchers and policymakers which will help in doing research in future and development of inclusive AI frameworks effectively.
