On the Architecture of a Coherent Block Universe: An Information-First Inquiry
The conventional scientific account of the universe is organized around spacetime geometry, forces, fields, causal relationships, and quantities accessible to observation and measurement. This approach has been remarkably successful within the established frameworks of quantum mechanics (QM) and general relativity (GR), yet persistent discrepancies within the resulting physical account continue to resist concrete explanation. We ask whether these discrepancies—and the physics to which they belong—can be interrogated from a different direction: whether the sequential requirements of human perception and reasoning cause information already present in our observations to be systematically overlooked. This inquiry proceeds through the established conception of the Block Universe, made manifest as an informational substrate (IS) comprising two coequal and complementary structural components: a vacuum energy membrane (VE) and a spacetime membrane (ST). Both retain the same underlying phase information, expressed in wrapped rotational form within VE and unwrapped rotational form within ST. Wrapped rotation expresses the quantum-mechanical character of VE, while unwrapped rotation expresses the completed geometry of ST and supplies the ordering that embedded observers experience as the passage of time. This information-first interpretation treats curvature as foundational within ST and gravity as an observable measure of motion within that geometry. A minimal cosmological construction incorporates unwrapped phase into the standard spatially flat Friedmann–Lemaître–Robertson–Walker (FLRW) metric and relates spatial scale directly to phase. The construction accommodates zero, uniform, and accelerated expansion within the established relativistic structure. Within this architecture, persistent and predictable discrepancies in galaxy rotation curves and nearby-galaxy redshift relationships become candidate signatures of information absent from conventional spacetime models. The resulting framework allows quantum behavior, spacetime geometry, time, gravity, and these astrophysical discrepancies to be examined as related manifestations of one underlying informational reality.
