DataCite Open Hours September 2026: Spotlight on Research Software

Slides from DataCite Open Hours on 23 September 2026, "Spotlight on Research Software." The presentation gives an overview of how DataCite supports software metadata: registering DOIs for software, connecting software to related research outputs, and connecting other outputs back to software. It also presents adoption figures for software DOIs and software connections. The deck then covers recent DataCite releases: API key authentication, version DOI grouping in the DataCite–ORCID integration, and access to enriched metadata records through the REST API. In addition, the talk previews upcoming work, including the REST API affiliation and publisher default change (September 2027), improved DOI resolution reporting, new COMET metadata enrichments, and Metadata Schema 4.8.
