Poster 3. Vicious Circles of Hyperventilation (Deep Breathing Disease) by K. P. Buteyko: Historical Graphic Reconstruction and Clinical-Physiological Model
Abstract This publication provides an authentic vector reconstruction of the historical clinical demonstration poster "Vicious Circles of Hyperventilation" (originally titled "Vicious Circles of Deep Breathing"), formulated by Dr. Konstantin P. Buteyko and his research group at the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences and utilized throughout the clinical practice of the VEDB school. Based on archival video records of Dr. Buteyko’s original clinical lectures (1989–1990), verified publications by his student and co-author Sergey N. Choshev, and official clinical trial documentations approved by the USSR Ministry of Health (1968, 1981, 1982), this work reconstructs the multi-loop systemic pathogenesis triggered by alveolar hypocapnia (CO₂ depletion):1. The Neuro-Reflex Loop (CNS overexcitation and respiratory center hyperstimulation);2. The Hypoxic Loop (arteriolar vasospasm, the Verigo–Bohr effect, and pathological hypoxic drive);3. The Barrier-Obstructive Loop (protective bronchospasm, mucosal edema, and forced mouth breathing);4. The Sympathoadrenal Cascade (suffocation panic, catecholamine surge, and hyperpnea). Files included in this record:1. `EN_Poster_3_Buteyko_Vicious_Circles_of_Hyperventilation.svg` — high-resolution, fully scalable vector demonstration poster (SVG) with standardized international medical terminology, suitable for large-format academic printing (A1/A0).2. `EN_poster_3_annotation_Buteyko_Vicious_Circles_of_Hyperventilation.pdf` — comprehensive companion monograph providing historical context, spirographic ventilation grade analysis, and a detailed physiological breakdown of the four vicious cycles. ---Original Russian Edition / Русское оригинальное издание:The Russian edition is deposited under a separate record: DOI https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.22944739
