CONCEPTUAL-COGNITIVE REPRESENTATION AND ITS ROLE IN PRACTICE

Conceptual-cognitive representation is an important concept in contemporary cognitive linguistics because it explains the relationship between language, thought, perception, and human experience. It refers to the mental organization of knowledge and experience through which individuals perceive reality, categorize objects and events, establish relationships between concepts, and express them through language. This paper examines the theoretical foundations of conceptual-cognitive representation and analyzes its practical significance in language learning, translation, discourse analysis, intercultural communication, terminology, and language technologies. Particular attention is given to conceptualization, categorization, cognitive models, frames, prototypes, image schemas, and conceptual metaphors. The study demonstrates that linguistic expressions are not isolated formal structures but reflect the ways in which speakers understand and organize their experience. Conceptual-cognitive analysis can therefore provide learners, translators, teachers, and researchers with a deeper understanding of linguistic meaning. The paper concludes that the application of cognitive principles can contribute to more effective language education, more accurate translation, and a better understanding of communication across linguistic and cultural boundaries.
