Employee eudaimonic well-being and green behavior in sustainable workplaces toward a human-centered sustainability framework

Sustainable development in contemporary organizations increasingly requires the integration of environmental responsibility with employee flourishing. However, research on employee eudaimonic well-being and employee green behavior remains fragmented across workplace well-being, green human resource management, organizational behavior, and sustainability studies. This study aims to map the intellectual structure, thematic development, and interconnections of research linking employee eudaimonic well-being, employee green behavior, workplace sustainability, and sustainable development. A focused bibliometric review was conducted on 636 documents published between 2010 and 2025. The data were retrieved from Scopus and Web of Science on 23 April 2026 and analyzed using RStudio, VOSviewer, and Biblioshiny. The findings reveal two major intellectual foundations: (i) eudaimonic well-being, workplace psychology, and human flourishing; and (ii) employee green behavior, green human resource management, and sustainable development. The thematic evolution indicates a gradual shift from earlier concerns with happiness, eudaimonia, and psychological functioning toward stronger integration with workplace sustainability, green behavior, and sustainable development. The present review advances the literature by clarifying a fragmented research domain and proposing a human-centered workplace sustainability framework that links employee flourishing with environmentally responsible workplace behavior.
