Industrialization maturity model for construction companies
Abstract This article explores the maturity of industrialization in construction companies by presenting a maturity model to measure and improve the industrialization status of such companies. Drawing on the literature and specialist interviews, an inductive and qualitative research method was employed to build a maturity model. Model assessment was performed by conducting a thorough maturity assessment and validation of a Finnish industrialized construction company. The results indicate that the proposed maturity model, which is based on the measurement of product and data, operative business processes, and continuous improvement maturity in industrialized operations, can be employed to identify the level of industrialization and determine the key development items in a company. Detailed elements that companies must utilize to achieve the next stage of industrialization are presented. Furthermore, the maturity model can be adapted based on the status and needs of companies. This study introduces a novel maturity model grounded in an industrial operating model for assessing and enhancing industrialization maturity.
