Challenges of Communication and Learning at Federal Government College, Odi
This study investigated the challenges of communication and learning at Federal Government College, Odi. The study adopted a descriptive survey design. A sample of 20 teachers was selected from the teachers' population of the school using simple random sampling. Data were collected with a 14-item instrument titled the Challenges of Communication and Learning Questionnaire (CCLQ), designed on a four-point rating scale. The instrument was validated by two specialists, while its reliability was established through a pilot test that produced a Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.81. Data were analysed using weighted mean, with a decision benchmark of 2.50. The findings showed that mother tongue interference and teachers' personality influence learning at Federal Government College, Odi. However, respondents did not rate perception differences between teachers and students as a major influence on learning. The study recommends periodic communication training for teachers, seminars on professional teacher conduct and personality development, and stronger school-level support for clear classroom communication.
