The Communal-Construction Technical College of the Azerbaijan SSR: A Source Study Analysis

This trilingual (English, Azerbaijani, Russian) source study reconstructs the organizational profile of the Communal-Construction Technikum of the Azerbaijan SSR in the late 1950s. It is based on four documents: two graduation photo-vignettes (1955–1959 and 1956–1959), a calendar plan for the discipline “Sanitary Installations and Works”, and a 1962 admission announcement of a Moscow correspondence technikum used for comparison. The paper examines the institution's departmental subordination, internal structure, admission tracks, the content of the surviving course plan, the gender and national composition of the staff and students shown, and the technikum's transfer to the education system in 1959. It is one of few studies of a production-oriented technikum in a peripheral Soviet republic, and it treats its conclusions as preliminary. Full-size images of the sources are included in the appendix. This publication documents and supplements the monograph Communal Economy in Azerbaijan during the Khrushchev Reforms (1953–1963), presenting additional archival material that lies beyond the chronological and thematic scope of the monograph itself.
