Toward a globally integrated histologic risk classification of pretreated Wilms tumor

The initial management of a child with Wilms tumor using empiric preoperative chemotherapy was historically contrasted with primary nephrectomy, with these approaches viewed as two divergent treatment paradigms (the International Society of Pediatric Oncology [SIOP] and the Children’s Oncology Group [COG] ones). The Evageliou study provides a bridge between the SIOP and COG treatment strategies, highlighting the potential of integrating the strengths of both models to continue to improve outcomes for children with Wilms tumor.
