Towards sustainable coastal and marine tourism: Policy learnings from field projects in the Caribbean, Mediterranean and Western Indian Ocean

This policy brief was developed within the Blue Tourism Initiative, drawing on four years of project implementation and lessons from locally led pilot actions across the Caribbean, Mediterranean and Western Indian Ocean. It translates the project's field experience into six enabling governance conditions and policy priorities for advancing sustainable coastal and marine tourism, with a focus on cross-sectoral coordination, land–sea integration, community participation, governance capacity, adaptive knowledge systems and institutional learning.
