An Empirical Study on Students’ Assessment of Library Facilities and Information Resources in Higher Educational Institution

The present study explores the student’s perspective on the contribution of library & information resources of higher educational institutions to accelerate the learning. A mixed method approach was devised to collect the data of 100 students through the purposive sampling from a government degree college in Hyderabad. A Self-developed questionnaire was developed & standardized to collect data, applied the qualitatively analysis techniques of percentages, tables, and graphs. The obtained results showed that the majority of respondents visited the library & accessed its information resources according to their academic & professional needs and also reflects the mixed bag of satisfaction towards the LIR. Further, the findings revealed the lacuna of digital library facilities, information resources & created a solid base for the recommendation of providing free accessibility to digital modern facilities in the libraries of higher education colleges, as well as adapt to the very latest adaptations of techno look & use of libraries for the target groups of higher education institutions.
