Formulation and Liponiosomal Hydrid Delivery System Containing Anti-Diabetic Drug Rosiglitazone

Rosiglitazone is a thiazolidinedione antidiabetic drug used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. The present study aimed to formulate and evaluate a liponiosomal hybrid drug delivery system containing rosiglitazone to improve drug entrapment and provide controlled drug release. The formulation was developed using suitable lipid, non-ionic surfactant, and cholesterol components and optimized based on physicochemical characteristics. The prepared formulations were evaluated for particle size, polydispersity index, zeta potential, drug entrapment efficiency, morphology, drug–excipient compatibility, and in vitro drug release. The developed liponiosomal system is expected to provide enhanced drug encapsulation and sustained release of rosiglitazone, indicating its potential as an advanced delivery approach for antidiabetic therapy.
