Modern surgical treatment of extensive traumatic skin detachments

Severe trauma with widespread skin detachment is accompanied by high mortality during shock and after subsequent septic complications. The authors present surgical restoration of the skin of the lower extremities. Two cases of Krasovitov skin grafting are described. This surgical method for extensive skin detachments allows saving the lives of the victims, ensuring full wound closure and optimizing local treatment of donor site wounds. Availability of necessary material and technical base, including the fastest and most complex work of surgical team, intensive care, preoperative replacement therapy with blood components contributes to patient recovery. Modern technical aspects of surgical treatment, such as VAC therapy and dermatome treatment of excised skin-fatty flap achieve complete engraftment of skin autografts.
