A CONTRASTIVE ANALYSIS OF CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DISCOURSE IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) has become a critical mechanism for ensuring workforce adaptability, lifelong learning, and institutional innovation in a globalized knowledge economy. However, the discursive construction of CPD varies significantly across cultural, linguistic, and socio-political landscapes. This paper presents a contrastive discourse analysis of CPD policy documents, institutional frameworks, and practitioner reflections in English and Uzbek. Utilizing a corpus-assisted critical discourse analysis (CDA) framework, this study investigates how modality, nominalization, lexical choices, and rhetorical structures reflect underlying ideological assumptions, institutional power dynamics, and professional values in Anglophone contexts versus post-Soviet Uzbekistan.
