Do feminist texts require feminist indexing?

Texts written from a feminist perspective pose distinct challenges for the indexer, arising from their non-doctrinal emphasis and their engagement with notions of fluidity, pluralism and intersectionality. Here, using examples from recent indexing projects, Ruth Martin questions whether they in fact require a feminist approach from the indexer and, if such a thing as ‘feminist indexing’ exists, whether it can be applied to other types of text as well.
