HERODOTUS ON THE GREEKS IN DATIS’ ARMY AT MARATHON
Abstract This note reconsiders Herodotus’ account of the Battle of Marathon to explore the possibility of Greek involvement in the Persian army. It challenges the long-held scholarly view that attributes Greek victory to a supposed technical superiority in hoplite arms and armour.
