User Attributes and Artificial Intelligence Decision-Making

Generative artificial intelligence (AI) has rapidly transformed human-computer interaction by adopting conversational and adaptive communication styles. This study examined how generative AI communication style and user attributes influence perception and decision-making during AI assisted interaction. One hundred twenty-one participants completed individual difference measures before evaluating various communication styles of AI generated responses. Participants rated perceived empathy, trustworthiness, and tone of responses across scenarios. The results revealed significant effects of tone and emotional intelligence of AI generated responses on user interaction. The findings highlight the importance of emotionally intelligent and polite AI communication in shaping user perceptions and supporting effective human-centered AI design and decision support systems.
