ENHANCING TAX ADMINISTRATION AND CONTROL IN THE ERA OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION: THE CASE OF CRYPTOCURRENCY REGULATION IN UZBEKISTAN
The rapid digitalisation of the global economy and the continued expansion of the cryptocurrency market have created new challenges and opportunities for tax administration and fiscal governance. The decentralised and cross-border nature of blockchain-based transactions, combined with jurisdictional complexity and evolving regulatory frameworks, can reduce the effectiveness of conventional audit trails and create additional challenges for transaction identification, tax compliance monitoring, and the transparent reporting of digital assets. This article examines the structural fiscal risks associated with the development of cryptocurrency markets and emphasises the importance of developing advanced administrative and regulatory frameworks capable of supporting effective tax administration in the era of digital transformation. Particular attention is given to strengthening transparency, improving digital monitoring mechanisms, and adapting taxcontrol instruments to the evolving characteristics of crypto-asset transactions.
