THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS OF THE INTERDEPENDENCE BETWEEN HOUSEHOLD INCOME AND CONSUMPTION EXPENDITURE: A CONCEPTUAL SYNTHESIS WITH EVIDENCE FROM UZBEKISTAN
The theoretical relationship between household income and consumption expenditure is examined based on the concepts of absolute income, permanent income, the life cycle, precautionary saving, and household heterogeneity. Using conceptual synthesis and descriptive analysis, official statistical indicators for Uzbekistan for 2010–2025 are analysed. Particular attention is paid to household income sources, consumption expenditure, transfers, poverty dynamics, and minimum consumption expenditure. The results indicate growth in household income, an increasing role of transfers, and a decline in poverty. The findings are interpreted within the framework of modern consumption theories, and recommendations are proposed for improving the analysis of household income and consumption behaviour.
