Women As the Subject of Discourse and Praxis in Culture and Translation

This book appraisal is based on an examination of Şehnaz Tahir Gürçağlar's *On the Edge of Words: Women Translators in Turkey*, a work by a professor at Boğaziçi University's Department of Translation Studies, within the framework of translation history and Turkic World studies. In this context, the book's content is approached from a feminist historical perspective, focusing on acknowledging and emphasizing the roles and importance of these women translators within the history of Turkish translation and the Turkish Revolution, thereby demonstrating the critical impact of gender, both positive and negative. Based on this, some inferences are made regarding the reflections of women's identity in the ancient and contemporary Turkic World.
