The Impact of the Quality of Corporate Governance and Accounting Information System on Non-Financial Performance: The Mediating Role of Non- Financial Information Quality
This paper explores how corporate governance (CG), accounting information system (AIS), and non-financial information (NFI) quality influence decision-making effectiveness (DME) and non-financial performance (NFP). Using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM), data from 344 publicly listed Saudi Arabian companies were analyzed, collected via questionnaires from managers, accountants, department heads, and board members. Results show that CG and AIS quality positively impact NFI quality, which in turn mediates their effect on DME and NFP. NFI quality directly influences both DME and NFP, with DME acting as a significant mediator between NFI and NFP. Additionally, NFI acts as a key mediator between CG and AIS quality, and subsequently DME and NFP. The findings emphasize NFI's role in linking CG and AIS to performance outcomes, offering new insights into the importance of non-financial metrics within an integrated stakeholder and decision-usefulness framework—particularly relevant in the Middle Eastern context.
