A new phenolic glycoside from the tubers of a newly bred cultivar of Gastrodia elata

A previously undescribed phenolic glycoside, namely gastrodin C ( 1 ), along with twelve known phenolic compounds ( 2 − 13 ) and one monosaccharide derivative ( 14 ), was isolated from the tubers of the newly bred Gastrodia elata cultivar “Guihong No. 2”. The structures of these compounds were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic analysis and comparison with the data reported in the literature. In the in vitro bioassay, compounds 12 and 13 exhibited moderate antiproliferative activities against HEL and H1975 cell lines, with IC 50 values ranging from 5.2 to 22.2 μ M.
