Mapping the trends and perspectives of nephron-sparing surgery in pediatric renal neoplasms

This study aims to conduct a bibliometric review to identify key trends and emerging research hotspots in the field of pediatric renal neoplasms and nephron-sparing surgery (NSS) worldwide. Publications related to pediatric renal neoplasms and NSS, published before July 2, 2026, were sourced from the Web of Science Core Collection database. A bibliometric analysis was performed using the bibliometrix R package. The publications were categorized by authors, institutions, countries, journals, and keywords to identify the leading contributors. Three key research hotspots in this field were then identified. A total of 544 relevant documents were retrieved, with annual publications showing an exponential increase. “Davidoff, A.M.” and “Domes, J.S.” were among the leading authors, and “St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital” was the leading institution. The USA was the most productive country in this field, while the “Journal of Pediatric Surgery” ranked among the most influential journals. This study provides valuable insights into the key contributors to pediatric renal neoplasm research, the current trends in this area, and influential journals for submitting innovative studies. It also offers a comprehensive overview of the field and potential future directions and hotspots for research.
