COMPARATIVE-SEMANTIC ANALYSIS OF ZOONYMIC PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS IN UZBEK AND ENGLISH LANGUAGES

This article presents a comparative study of idioms containing animal names (zoonymic phraseological units) in the Uzbek and English languages. The primary objective of the research is to identify how human character is depicted through animals in the worldviews of both nations. Utilizing specific examples, the paper highlights the similarities and cultural differences between Uzbek and English idioms. For instance, the analysis demonstrates that while certain animals (such as the rabbit and the fox) convey identical meanings in both languages, others (such as the dog, the donkey, and the sheep) manifest entirely diverse connotations. The materials of this article can be effectively utilized in language learning and translation practices.
