CC Berndt Speeches 2002-2025 Some people are highly skilled and completely relaxed at presenting professional impromptu stump speeches with no notes in hand. I am not such a person and consider presenting public speeches as very demanding. The purpose of a speech can be (i) to give thanks on receiving an award or honour, (ii) to acknowledge a professional activity, or (iii) to participate in an official officer capacity during a professional function. Therefore, the speeches documented in this PDF are of these characters; i.e., (i) a short 90 second ‘vote of thanks’, (ii) 10 minute speeches that convey more detailed information, and (iii) complex multiscale events over an hour. It is not unusual to spend many times the allotted speech period in organising the structure and timing of a speech so that messaging is accurate and focused. Thus, a well-honed script keeps me on target so that there is minimal divergence. The speeches in this file are of the types described above and have been presented within public forums. The key point of any speech is to consider the character of the audience so that potential desirable outcomes can be tailored to suit the specific occasion and the local environment.
