Typification of the Linnaean name Achillea impatiens (Asteraceae)

The typification of the Linnaean name Achillea impatiens (Asteraceae) is discussed. Examination of the protologue and associated original material revealed that both the illustration published by Gmelin in “Flora Sibirica” and a specimen preserved in the Linnaean Herbarium (Herb. Linn. No. 1017.9, LINN) constitute original material for the name. To promote nomenclatural stability and preserve current usage, Herb. Linn. No. 1017.9 (LINN) is here designated as the lectotype of A. impatiens .
