An Exploration of Group Coaching for Leaders in Transition to Senior Leadership Positions
The move into senior leadership has been identified as one of the hardest and can be uniquely challenging for leaders. This two-phase study examined the current challenges leaders face in transition and led to the development of a group coaching programme that was applied and explored through two cycles of action research. The findings evidenced how group coaching can both support leaders through transition in the workplace and develop collective leadership capacity. Theoretical contributions include identifying how group coaching worked to support leaders, and practical contributions include a two-part framework for coaches to use to implement group coaching.
