Ultrasound examination of periorbital edema after rhinoplasty

Objective. To develop and propose a technique for ultrasound examination of periorbital edema after rhinoplasty. Material and methods. Between January 2025 and April 2025, 20 patients underwent rhinoplasty. The study was conducted in accordance with the Helsinki Declaration. In all cases, data on gender, age and photo documentation were collected for 7 days after surgery regarding VAS scores, and ultrasound examination was performed before surgery and after 2 and 7 postoperative days. Inclusion criteria: patients with cosmetic nose defects (wide nose pyramid). Results. Our method makes it possible to measure periorbital edema on any postoperative day, regardless of plaster splint. Conclusion. Original method for ultrasound examination of periorbital edema after rhinoplasty allows for more accurate data compared to subjective assessment. This approach may be used any day after surgery as one of the most accessible methods for objective examination.
