Cyber-Human Duos: A privacy-preserving pattern for worker-paired AI in knowledge-intensive organisations
When AI automates the routine work on which professional expertise was built, organisations face a learning crisis rather than a staffing crisis. The graded battery of cases that once produced specialists as a by-product is removed, and the career channel through which people advanced collapses beneath them. Every mechanism that could respond, whether matching people to learning, assigning work by fit, or assessing readiness, requires knowing something about the individual. A central register of what each person cannot yet do is simultaneously the most useful artefact for personalisation and the most dangerous for the individual. It is a profile, and profiles are subpoenaed, leaked, hacked, or repurposed by the next management team. Cyber-Human Duos Architecture inverts the locus of intelligence. One register of many becomes many registers of one. Each worker is paired with a local AI model that holds their accumulated method, encrypted to their own device credentials, visible to no central party, and portable beyond the tenure of their employment. That pairing, one person and their own model working as a single unit, is the Cyber-Human Duo.
