FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF PHENYTOIN DELAYED RELEASE CAPSULE USING DOE

ABSTRACT:Since many anticonvulsants appear to function as mood stabilizers, they are also usedto treat neuropathic pain, bipolar disorder, and borderline personality disorder.Anticonvulsants can stop seizures from spreading across the brain by suppressing theexcessive and uncontrollable firing of neurons during seizures. The compatibility of the drugpolymer and excipients was verified by preformulation tests. Before capsule filling wassatisfied, granules were assessed for tests such as bulk density, tap density, andcompressibility index. The phenytoin delayed capsules were dissolved using a pH 6.8phosphate buffer dissolving medium at 100 rpm and a 900 ml dissolution volume. Phenytoin300 mg, a commercially available product, is compared during a 24-hour period. There arenumerous batches of drug release and dissolution profiles among this F-4 that satisfy allrequirements. For convulsive patients, a single 300 mg phenytoin delayed capsule is morebeneficial than a regular 100 mg dose.
