New species of Trichoderma (Hypocreales) from China

Species of Trichoderma are mainly saprobic, parasitic, endophytic, or pathogenic and occur in soil, rotten plant debris, living poaceous crops, and occasionally in water and air. Some of them play important roles in industry, agriculture, and environmental protection due to their production of enzymes, bioactive secondary metabolites, and their capability of pollution remediation. To reveal species diversity of the genus, specimens and strains from different provinces of China were investigated. Eleven new species, Trichoderma anhuiense, T. atrocapitatum, T. brunneum, T. chongqingense, T. corticola, T. enshiense, T. guilinense, T. huangshanicum, T. oligostromaticum, T. terricola, and T. xiangyangense, were introduced based on morphological characteristics and combined sequence analyses of the second largest subunit of RNA polymerase II (rpb2) and translation elongation factor 1-α (tef1α) regions. Differences between the novel taxa and their close relatives are compared in detail.

Differences between the novel taxa and their close relatives are compared in detail.
