ANALYSIS OF THE DEMOGRAPHIC AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC STATUS AND DEVELOPMENT TRENDS OF POPULATION AGEING IN THE REGION

This article examines the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of population ageing in the Kashkadarya Region as a case study. Structural changes in the age composition of the population, trends in the shares of the working-age and older-than-working-age populations, the ageing coefficient, and the demographic dependency ratio during 2021–2025 are analysed. The main channels through which population ageing is associated with changes in the labour market, pension provision, healthcare, social services, household expenditure, and the regional services market are identified. The study applies methods of statistical grouping, comparative analysis, time-series analysis, coefficient analysis, and systematic and logical analysis. The calculations indicate a steady increase in the share of the population above working age, accompanied by a decline in the share of the working-age population in the Kashkadarya Region. Based on these findings, the article proposes considering population ageing as an important factor in regional socio-economic development, expanding services for older persons, promoting healthy and active ageing, and improving the targeted provision of social services at the mahalla level.
