Barbacenia pendula sp. nov.(Velloziaceae) from the northern Espinhaço Range of Minas Gerais, Brazil

Although botanical exploration in the Espinhaço Range has increased in recent years, several areas remain poorly sampled, particularly in northern Minas Gerais. Recently, this area has been receiving scientific expeditions, leading to the description of several new plant species. Here, from this region, a new species of Barbacenia is described and illustrated. It was discovered in Campos Rupestres, a montane vegetation within the Cerrado domain noted for its high diversity and endemism. We provide a morphological description, botanical plate, habitat photographs, distribution map, comparisons with related species, and a preliminary conservation assessment.
