Tali Nates Interview with Prof. Kerry Whigham Memory, Testimony, and Societal Transformation

Abstract The interview with Dr. Kerry Whigham was conducted by Tali Nates (founder and director of the Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre). Dr. Whigham is Associate Professor of Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention at Binghamton University, where he is also the Co-Director of the Institute for Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention. Additionally, he is the Director of Research and Online Education at the Auschwitz Institute for the Prevention of Genocide and Mass Atrocities. In this conversation, Whigham reflects on his public memory work in post-atrocity societies, the impact and influence that memory of the Holocaust has, the role of art in public memory and its role as testimony.
