AI Teacher Competency in ELT: A Framework for Professional Practice

Research-informed working paper proposing a six-domain framework for AI teacher competency in English Language Teaching (ELT). The framework conceptualises AI teacher competency as professional practice and integrates six interconnected domains: AI Literacy, Pedagogical AI Integration, Prompt and Interaction Skills, AI Output Evaluation, AI Assessment Literacy, and Responsible AI Practice. The framework is intended to support teacher education, professional development, institutional AI policy, and further research on responsible and pedagogically appropriate AI integration in ELT. This is Version 1.0. The framework is research-informed and has not undergone external peer review, independent formal Delphi validation, large-scale empirical testing, or external psychometric validation. It is presented as a conceptual professional practice framework rather than a high-stakes assessment instrument.
