BEYOND GOTHIC LEGEND: A MICROHISTORY OF THE BASKERVILLE LINEAGE AND ITS DISPERSED GLOBAL LEGACY

This academic monograph presents a rigorous microhistorical and autoethnographic investigation into the historic Baskerville lineage. Moving beyond Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's iconic gothic romance The Hound of the Baskervilles (1902), this study reconstructs the factual archival trajectory of the Baskerville family from their 11th-century Norman origins at Eardisley Castle, Herefordshire, and Clyro Court, Radnorshire, Wales, to the famous 18th-century Birmingham typefounder John Baskerville. Furthermore, utilizing a linguistic and post-colonial analytical framework, the monograph investigates the phonological transliteration of 'Baskerville' to 'Baskorvil' in South Asian civil registries. Grounded in family memory, official birth documentation, and academic hermeneutics, this work formulates a dignified narrative of quiet, dispersed global inheritance.
