Diagram 3.8

Diagram 3.8 is a chamber work for clarinet, violin, cello, two mezzo-soprano voices, and two percussionists, one playing vibraphone and glockenspiel and the other playing miscellaneous instruments. The text of the work is the hypertext poem “Diagram 3.8” by Jim Rosenberg. Reflecting the nonlinear and exploratory nature of the Diagram poems, the score is presented on an HTML web page synchronized with the Max 9 application, and the precomposed musical fragments populate the page in real time. Diagram 3.8 explores the intersection of the notated score with computer-generated aleatory, performer hypermediacy, disability aesthetics, and digital media aesthetics.
