A Porphyrin Cage Formed via Imine Bonds that Encapsulates Fullerenes
Abstract A readily accessible imine-linked porphyrin cage was constructed in one step and shown to encapsulate C60 and C70. Fullerenes can be incorporated either during cage formation or by post-synthetic uptake, highlighting the adaptability of dynamic covalent assembly. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction of the C60 complex revealed the guest within the cavity and close porphyrin–C60 contacts.
