Intimate Fields brings together a group of 24 × 24 inch paintings that explore how small shifts can transform a quiet surface. Each painting begins with a quiet field of colour. Small shifts in light, mark and surface gradually change its balance, inviting slower looking. Working on an intimate scale encourages concentration. The paintings are not intended to overwhelm but to slow the act of looking. Through layered acrylic surfaces and restrained colour.
