FAIR databases for pedotransfer functions development
FAIR databases for pedotransfer functions development Mélanie WeynantsMax Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry, Jena, Germanyinvited talk at ISMC2026 conference – Rio de Janeiro 15-19 September 2026Format: beamer presentation (pdf)Audience: soil modelling research community Abstract Soil data are the foundation of pedotransfer functions. How to build findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable (FAIR) databases of soil data and assert data quality to develop accurate and reliable data driven models to predict soil properties at large scale? In this presentation I bring some elements of response to this multifaceted question based on my experience in developing the European Hydropedological Inventory (EU-HYDI) and research data management fundamentals.
