First Experience of TCRαβ⁺ Depleted Haploidentical Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation in a Child with a TINF2-Related Telomere Biology Disorder

Experience with haploidentical HSCT in TINF2-related TBDs is limited (7-9).This case demonstrates the feasibility of TCRαβ⁺-depleted haploidentical HSCT in patients lacking a suitable matched donor and suggests that retransplantation using the same platform may be an effective rescue strategy after primary graft failure. The successful second transplant may have been facilitated by donor change, a higher CD34⁺ cell dose, a different conditioning regimen, and a lower residual TCRαβ⁺ cell dose.Although HSCT restores hematopoiesis, it does not correct the underlying telomere defect; therefore, lifelong surveillance for malignancy and other diseaserelated complications is essential (10).
