Attention as a factor determining the effectiveness of technical-tactical actions in a fencing match

The purpose of the study is to analyze the results of a survey of athletes and coaches on the significance of attention properties in fencers. Research methods: analysis and synthesis of scientific and methodological literature, a survey (questionnaire), and methods of mathematical statistics were used. Research results and conclusions. It was determined that the majority of surveyed athletes and coaches associate errors in a bout with a decline in attention, recognizing its decisive role in competitive activity. However, a contradiction was revealed between the recognition of the importance of attention and the actual practice of its development. A deficit of exercises for attention development was identified, as well as heterogeneity in coaches' approaches to attention training. The necessity of developing a unified approach to the diagnosis and targeted development of attention properties in fencers was substantiated, taking into account the age and skill-level characteristics of athletes. According to the authors, the key problem lies not in a lack of understanding of the importance of attention, but in the absence of a systematic, standardized approach to its development.
