Plantar fasciitis in athletes as an overuse injury of the musculoskeletal system: risk factors and technologies for accelerating recovery processes
One of the causes of foot pain syndrome in athletes is plantar fasciitis (PF) – a degenerative syndrome that occurs as a result of chronic injury to the attachment site of the plantar fascia to the heel bone. The purpose of the study is to systematize prevention and rehabilitation measures depending on the risk factors of plantar fasciitis in athletes. Research methods: analysis of scientific publications in the databases e-library, PubMed, Medline, and Google Scholar. Research results and conclusions. The causes contributing to the development of PF in athletes can be conditionally divided into two groups. The first group includes risk factors related to the anatomical and functional characteristics of the athlete's body, while the second group includes those related to the characteristics of the training process. The article describes prevention and rehabilitation measures for PF in athletes depending on the risk factors.
