Challenges of early marriage in Indonesia: exploring the correlation between psychological distress and religiosity with marital satisfaction

This study examined the correlation between psychological distress, religiosity and marital satisfaction among individuals who entered early marriage in Indonesia. Eighty-two participants from five provinces were recruited using systematic random sampling. The ENRICH Marital Satisfaction Adaptation Scale, Centrality of Religiosity Scale, and Kessler Psychological Distress Scale were used. Multiple linear regression showed that psychological distress and religiosity jointly predicted marital satisfaction (R2 = 0.493, p < 0.01).
